Specific Volunteer Opportunities

 Fund Development Coordinator
Fundraising (also development) is the set of activities associated with soliciting and gathering voluntary contributions of money or other by requesting donations from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations or churches. There are many different ways to raise funds; the most common types are direct mail/email appeals, events (such as concerts, dinners, and walk-a-thons), product sales (i.e. Girl Scout Cookies), in-kind gifts, foundation grants, capital campaigns, and on-line donations.
Love INC provides an investment opportunity to donors to unify the Body of Christ, mobilize local churches, and transform lives and the community. It also provides an opportunity for people to exercise their spiritual gift of giving.
Mid-Hudson Love INC is looking for someone to lead the Fund Development efforts for the ministry. The Coordinator, working with their committee, would:
  • define the annual fundraising efforts governed by budgetary needs (there are currently four defined fundraisers, each having an event Chairperson).
  • work closely with the  Executive Director to finalize the annual fundraising plan and present it to the Board.
  • work with the Bookkeeper to thank and provide receipts to all our donors in a timely manner.
  • developed a diverse number of funding sources (churches, individuals, businesses, fundraising projects, events, products, charitable foundations, etc.) to insure long‐term financial stability.
Please contact John Marrine at director@mhlinc.orgif interested to hear more about this key ministry opportunity.

Volunteer Coordinator
Love INC is focused on building and maintaining strong relationships with individual (and group) volunteers from the local churches in a community. Volunteers are the critical component of the Love INC ministry – the lifeblood of the Movement. In fact, mobilizing Christian volunteers from within the partner church network is the most important reason Love INC exists. Without the mobilization of church volunteers there is no ministry and no mission of Love INC. Love INC supports churches by being an effective tool they use to identify, coordinate and orchestrate local mission work within their communities. Volunteer mobilization is a critical tool in the Love INC tool box offered to the church.
Mid-Hudson Love INC is looking for someone to lead the volunteer mobilization for the ministry. The Coordinator, working with their committee, would:
  • work with the person that maintains our volunteer data to familiarize, scrutinize, update and add to our volunteer pool.
  • facilitate volunteer orientation sessions and communicate pertinent information to the respective ministry areas.
  • identify and obtain volunteers for given activities and events.
  • recognize volunteers for their efforts (cards, annual appreciation luncheon).
Please contact John Marrine at director@mhlinc.org if interested to hear more about this key ministry opportunity.

Wonder where you fit?

1. If you are a dedicated pray-er and want to pray for hurting people…

Gotta get those forms copied! The intake volunteers will be here any minute.

Volunteers receive weekly confidential prayer requests to intercede for clients
Sometimes a client is assigned a Prayer Buddy who will call and pray with them on a regular basis

2. If you are available weekdays and want to help in the Clearinghouse…

The Clearinghouse is at 748 Freedom Plains Road in Poughkeepsie and is the place where clients first ‘meet’ Love INC via the phone.

  • Volunteers serve M, W, Th mornings on the phones speaking directly with clients and making follow-up verification calls
  • Volunteers help with computer work, filing, copying, personal note-writing
  • Volunteers help keep client records up-to-date

  • Volunteers pick-up and sort donations
  • Volunteers pack boxes and bags with good-condition donated items to address the clients’ needs
  • Volunteers repair, reupholster, & paint some donations

4. If you want to be involved directly with people in need…

  • Volunteers deliver items to clients at their homes and have the opportunity to meet and pray with clients
  • Volunteers are paired with selected clients to serve as encouraging partners
  • Volunteers plan and teach a variety of practical life skills classes: healthy cooking on a budget, goal-setting, Bible study, craft, grief & loss, and basic financial planning
  • Volunteers drive people to/from class

5. If you have specific expertise and interest in serving the organization …

  • Volunteers plan and execute Fund-Raising and Friend-Raising events
  • Volunteers create posters, brochures, press releases, reports, grant proposals

In addition to the Clearinghouse and the Relational Ministry, Mid-Hudson Love INC partners with local churches to operate the following Gap Ministries:

Personal Care Item Pantry – a pantry of basic body and home care items that cannot be purchased using food stamps.  A bag of these items can be a huge blessing to a family on a tight budget.

Linens Ministry – offers towels, sheets, blankets, and new pillows to families in need.

Hygiene Pantry – personal items specifically for class attendees.

Furniture Ministry – picks up donated kitchen, living room and bedroom furniture and then delivers needed items to help neighbors build a sense of home!

Beds INC – Hopewell Reformed Church’s ministry of new beds to Love INC neighbors in need.
